Weekly/Biweekly programming challenges ?

Weekly/Biweekly programming challenges ?

Postby franklyn » Sun Sep 16, 2007 11:33 am

Heres an idea ... how about having weekly or biweekly programming projects/challenges that are organized into different levels ranging from the novice who has just begun tackling the pitfalls of programming to the seasoned expert who has many years of experience under his belt :D. the challenges are structured in a way that introduces a specific concept or problem and focuses on exploring algorithmic solutions, patterns and structures that have a general scope (... or not ?) , from an entry level this would be things like sorting , recursion , using nested loops etc. this would allow all of us to learn from each other and observe different methods of problem solving . of course a lot of us probably do this already in an effort to sharpen our programming skills but theres quite a great deal lacking form such an isolated environment , it perpetuates bad programming habits because of lack of criticism.

You have once again mirrored my thoughts, exactly. I actually talked to the other founder, Mike, About doing something like this, but never really put any time into doing this. I would love to see some ideas, but in the mean time, I will go ahead and drop a couple nickels in my bucket of ideas and see what comes out in regards to programming tasks that are simple enough to do on a weekly basis.

=) Great to see your input, as always. Thank you.
