I've wanted to build an RTS for a long time but I wanted something a little different and there is this idea I've had
for a LONG time.
It involves building underwater colonies for whatever reason that might be explained in the game but colonies can't just
be built anywhere; they consist of a series of buildings all connected with each other by means of tunnels, which might also
have to be built by players depending on how it affects gameplay.
Resource collection would consist of building outpost colonies on the bottom of the ocean to mine mineral deposits, which
would probably be found near caves or rocky geography, or collect gases from underwater volcanos, which would probably
be found in underwater canyons or steep dropoffs.
Military in the game would consist of building a submarine fleet of varying purposes and sizes such as a standard torpedo
submarine, a depth charge sub or a research sub; which might be used to explore the ocean or somehow discover new technologies or something.
Typical buildings might consist of a sonar tower to detect wildlife or other subs, an infirmary or a sub bay.
To enhance the underwater effect the scenery would be very dark, there would be blinking lights on the buildings and subs and
certain subs themselves would have lights mounted on them.
I'd like the game to be real time but to maybe play more like civilization like maybe having to have the player keep track
of a colonies' conditions such as disease, water contaimination and flood protection.
Just some idea I thought might be worth the post.
